About us

Freeter (フリーター, furītā) is a Japanese term for people who intentionally avoid the conventional 9 to 5 lifestyle, choosing to break free from the cycle and seek alternative paths.

We believe in a new way of working—one that breaks free from the traditional cycle and blends passion with profession. Inspired by this idea, we built a brand that embodies the Freeter spirit, using our own merchandise to fund creative ideas and grow a like-minded community.

We run our own clothing brand as a way to bring our ideas and products to life. From design to in-house printing, we keep the entire process close and develop full collections that are sold through our online store.

Every piece is defined by the details, from F-pockets with custom Freeter pencils to hoodies with signature clips and ties finished with Freeter patches. Each product is inspired by office culture or reinterpreted through the distinct Freeter visual language.

Beyond clothing, we also create accessories, rugs, home and office objects, and other pieces that help expand the Freeter world and bring our story to life.

Our street art uses our signature illustration style—overworked salarymen and office-related humor—to interrupt routine and push a bit of freedom into the streets.

A lot of it comes out of our small-scale studio factory, where we build concrete sculptures, cut stencils, and make set pieces by hand. That’s how the concrete work we installed during Paris Fashion Week was made, and how the big T-shirt stencil posters ended up across Groningen.

We place our pieces in spots where people don’t expect them. No noise, no fuss—just a quiet break from the grind.

At Freeter, we take everyday office or corporate gear and give it a second life. We clean it, break it down, cut it up, and turn it into something playful, functional, or just unexpected.

Stuff that once belonged in a strict work environment suddenly gets a new vibe—like the filing cabinet we chopped up and turned into a clothing rack. Or the kinetic pieces we make, like a signpost that actually spins. We love pushing these familiar objects into completely different roles and showing how corporate leftovers can become creative tools.

Still office-inspired, but far from office-like.
